BTS Beyond the Story Part 2: “But music, like life, was an endless journey.”

Hello ARMY! Previously, we discussed the first three chapters of the book “Beyond the Story: 10-Year Record of BTS” and in this blog, we will explore the remainder of the book.

Let's walk through the flower path once again.

Chapter 4: Inside Out

As BTS’ popularity rose, criticism rose alongside it. It was during this time that the hate was reaching new peaks, and BTS was faced with learning how to accept love and handle hate.

The chapter focuses on many monumental moments of BTS. It was the beginning of performing in bigger venues, traveling to different countries, performing before international ARMYs, and winning Artist of the Year at the Mnet Asian Music Awards (MAMA) in 2016. However, a huge focus of the chapter is the development of each member as they created WINGS.

This was the time when their collective relationship had deepened, so they started to search for a relationship within themselves. During WINGS, the members began to explore their own unique colors, and ARMY began to witness the beginning of their individual journeys to finding their own voice.

They explored personal realities in their music, as it had become a staple to be as raw as possible. It was here that they began to incorporate literature and art into their concepts. During this time, the intricate storylines left for interpretation began and made a unique mark on who BTS is.

Chapter 5: A Flight That Never Lands

Fear of failure or success can be so paralyzing it makes any situation seem bleak. After going through their career fearing they might fail at the next step, BTS was facing the fears of what their success could bring them.

This fear and anxiety were severe enough to cause chaos within each member and the group. These difficult feelings led to a moment that many of us fans still hold as one of the hardest: BTS considered disbanding. That word is far from the BTS and ARMY vocabulary now, but during the “Love Yourself” era, the group went through a crisis.

The boys were exhausted and under a lot of pressure as global celebrities. This chapter encapsulates the true strength of BTS, which is BTS themselves. They figured out a way to help each other out of dark times, creating beautiful music in the process.

It is undeniable that this moment marked the rest of their lives, as when they decided to stay together, it was with a promise of forever.

Chapter 6: The World of BTS

ARMY and BTS influence each other and the world around them. Through this special bond, change has been made through UNICEF campaigns, donations, or the sharing of life stories. ARMY and BTS built a strong world together, one that is incredibly hard to penetrate.

It is with this strength that BTS continued to reach new heights, being raised higher by ARMY. BTS began to receive increased recognition all over the world creating history almost every other week.

Although it is still challenging to navigate through some of the hate thrown in BTS’ direction, ARMY is capable of deflecting most of it. There was no way of knowing what would happen next. ARMY just wanted to help BTS achieve every dream they could fathom.

Chapter 7: We Are

This chapter surrounds BTS’ navigation of the pandemic. The chapter begins with the thrill of lockdown passing, and V speaks excitedly about performing in front of a live audience after so long. Feelings that had been frozen in time came rushing out of all of them as they once again took the stage in LA.

The pandemic took a mental toll on everyone, so it was nice that eventually, we found the light in each other once again. BTS gained strength from ARMY and vice versa, leading to new hope and music. BTS achieved incredible musical accolades and explored new venues. They dominated charts and captured hearts, which led to them becoming icons.

BTS is BTS. They are a family united by love, respect, and music.

This book is a celebration of the boy band that redefined everything. They embarked on an unprecedented journey and succeeded on their own terms.

“Beyond the Story” marks a new beginning in BTS’ path and the relationship between ARMY and BTS. We recommend reading the book in its entirety as we couldn’t possibly cover every wonderful story the members shared.
