Previously on BTS: Honorary Celebrations, Upcoming Concert and an Exhilarating Collaboration Sept-11

Hey ARMY! 안녕하세요!

Welcome back to another exciting roller coaster ride of Bangtan fun! This week, we were hit with a bucket load of mind-blowing surprises and exciting content. It's enough to make your head spin. Let's dive straight into it!

Coldplay x BTS is officially here!

After endless speculation for many months, Coldplay and BTS have finally confirmed their official collaboration on the new single, My Universe, an English-Korean song set for release on September 24. Both groups teased their fans about the upcoming single, and shared sneak peeks of them grooving to My Universe together in tik-tok preview clips.

In a recent interview on the Kelly Clarkson show, Chris Martin explained how the single is about crossing boundaries for love, and how apt it felt to have the two groups join up and break barriers for the cause of love. The same can be said for ARMY and Coldplay fans, who started a donation project to support the people of Afghanistan with the UN World Food Programme.

BTS Appointed Special Presidential Envoy

BTS met President Moon Jae-in on September 14 at the Blue House for a ceremony, in which they were appointed “Special Presidential Envoy for Future Generations and Culture,” carrying forward their work in “spreading hope and positive energy” through music.

At the ceremony, President Moon presented each member with certificates of appointment, diplomatic passports, and fountain pens. As part of their first official duties, BTS will also accompany the President in attending the 76th session of the United Nations General Assembly for the second meeting of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDG Moment).

The boys will give a message of consolation and hope to youth worldwide, as well as a video performance. This will be the second time BTS attends the UN General Assembly in person since 2018, as their 2020 appearance was a pre-recorded video message due to the pandemic.

“YOUTH TODAY, YOUR STORIES” The BTS-UN 2021 Campaign

On September 13, BTS launched the “YOUTH TODAY, YOUR STORIES” campaign via Twitter, in which they encouraged young people to voice their stories on how the past two years have changed their lives and their thoughts on the present world.

The boys opened up the dialogue for ARMY by sharing their own stories; in the past two years, BTS explained how they have been taking it slow and easy, discovering themselves through different hobbies and styles. They spoke about enjoying the pleasures of a simple routine and exploring new ways of living.

“PERMISSION TO DANCE ON STAGE” One-day Concert

For ARMYs who missed the thrill of watching BTS' live performances, you'll love this! In a surprise Weverse announcement made on September 15, Big Hit Music revealed that an online concert, “PERMISSION TO DANCE ON STAGE,” will be held on October 24 at 6:30 pm KST. The announcement was accompanied by a vibrant poster in the key color of BTS' Butter CD album and a video message, where BTS invited ARMY and grooved to their chart-topping number, Permission to Dance. Information regarding the ticketing prices hasn't been disclosed, but will be released in the upcoming weeks.

Thank God the Galaxy has RM!

A day after his actual birthday, RM came on a surprise live broadcast to celebrate with ARMY. He brought a lovely, white cake with the message, “I believe in your Galaxy, RM” written on it. RM left ARMY with many wonderful memories, as he accidentally extinguished the candles while dancing happily in his seat, flaunted his newly gifted bike from Jin and talked about his favorite drinks, hair color and his recent photo with Jimin. RM also revealed that he's currently working on new songs.

Awards and Achievements

BTS won the Group of the Year Award, and the Best K-Pop Award at the 2021 MTV Video Music Awards, marking the group's third consecutive year of winning these awards. It was also BTS' first time taking home the title of Song of Summer! While they couldn't accept their award in person, they released a video message, thanking ARMY for all the love and support.

In other exciting news, IDOL joined the 1 Billion views club a few days after Fake Love, making it BTS' 6th MV to do so! Also, Euphoria has now spent 80 weeks on the Billboard World Digital Song Sales chart, making Jungkook the first and only K-soloist to achieve this milestone. Butter remained at no #6 in the Billboard Global, excluding the US chart.

That was the week in a nutshell, ARMY! As always, BTS continues to accumulate amazing achievements and is set to create new memories with this exciting collaboration with Coldplay. Let's cheer our boys on and make this a single to remember. We hope you enjoyed these highlights! Let's meet again soon.
