Another week has passed in the BTS universe. From new performances to achieving new milestones and announcing exciting news, BTS has kept ARMY spoiled. So, if you missed anything, this blog will help to update yourself without missing a thing. Let’s get into what happened this past week!
My Universe success
The incredible collaboration between Coldplay and BTS has attracted great response worldwide. On September 30, the official music video for My Universe dropped with an astonishing production and concept. It debuted at #3 on Spotify Global chart with 6.76 million streams, and overall it gained 9.65 million streams, becoming BTS’ fourth top Spotify debut. As of October 1, the song had 37.62 million streams on Spotify, 97 iTunes #1’s, and its lyric video had nearly 40 million views. A documentary of the song’s production process was released two days after the song dropped. They also released two more versions of the song along with their music videos: an Acoustic Version and a SUPERNOVA 7 MIX. Go check it out if you haven’t!
Global Citizen Live
On September 25, the Global Citizen Live concert took place, where BTS performed from Seoul, South Korea. They gave a beautiful performance of Permission to Dance at Sungnyemun, one of the Eight Gates of the Seoul Fortress Wall, which is considered the First National Treasure of Korea; national treasures performing at a national treasure, we love to see it! They also performed Butter in front of the back gate of Sungnyemun. To ARMY’s surprise, Coldplay also performed My Universe later in the concert. BTS appeared on videos shown through big screens on stage; it was an overall amazing performance by Coldplay, and it was nice to hear Chris Martin singing some Korean lyrics!
BTS on the charts and new milestones
Butter was #1 on Billboard’s Digital Song Sales for another week, and #24 on the Billboard Hot 100. On the Billboard Hot 100 Japan, BTS had four songs in the top 10, with My Universe debuting at #9. Also, BTS, THE BEST compilation album, surpassed one million sales in Japan. Regarding Spotify, Not Today surpassed 200 million streams, Permission to Dance 260 million, Butter 580 million, and Dynamite 1.1 billion. On YouTube, MIC Drop surpassed 1.05 billion views, FAKE LOVE and IDOL 1.01 billion, and j-hope’s Chicken Noodle Soup reached 300 million views, his first music video to do so. Finally, BANGTANTV’s YouTube channel now has 13 billion total views.
PERMISSION TO DANCE ON STAGE - LA ANNOUNCEMENT!
After almost two years of not performing in front of ARMY, BTS is going back on stage! Out of the blue, they announced the “PERMISSION TO DANCE ON STAGE - LA” offline concerts. Four concerts at the SoFi Stadium in the city of Los Angeles, United States, will take place on November 27 and 28, and then on December 1 and 2. The boys shared a video announcing the exciting news, and they all looked so happy to finally see ARMY again after such a long and hard time. The presale for the concerts will start on October 5. We can’t wait for the beautiful reunion to happen; ARMYs who are going to the concerts, have fun and give BTS lots of love!
Bangtan’s space
Preview photos of “In the SOOP BTS Ver. Season 2” were officially posted, and we got a glimpse of the boys surrounded by nature; we can’t wait for the new season! Also, Jin went on Weverse and shared a photo of the water saying that he witnessed a shark biting his fishing line; he posted again three days later sharing a picture of his shadow. j-hope posted on Weverse a picture of him in Chicken Noodle Soup style captioning it “2 years old” referring to the second anniversary of the song, and he also posted selfies on Twitter, at the MV set of My Universe. Namjoon shared with us a photo of him riding a bicycle in the nighttime on Weverse as well. Taehyung went on Twitter and posted a selfie with a wine bottle against his face; we missed you Taehyung!
